Impact Fellow

The Fines and Fees Freedom Fund seeks one highly motivated individual to join our team as an Impact Fellow for 2024. You will join our small but mighty team and provide critical group and project management support to drive our mission forward, which will include managing workplans and schedules, tracking and facilitating communication with external partners, and monitoring discrete projects in the states where F4 operates.

Our ideal candidate would both be passionate about the big picture of our mission to end the criminalization of poverty, and enjoy helping our team optimize, organize, and track the micro-steps needed to reach that goal. You would bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, rigorous attention to detail, and a creative and strategic mindset. You would be excited to help the organization grow and to help us decide exactly what that growth will or should look like.

This position is remote.

Responsibilities and opportunities:

Schedule and manage the team’s work plans, including our weekly touch-base meeting

  • Coordinate schedules and manage invitations for weekly team meetings

  • Look across team projects and priorities to manage weekly team agendas

  • Attend, take notes on, and track follow-ups for weekly team meetings

  • Manage the team’s google drive and CRM to keep us organized

  • Manage team projects, holding team members accountable for meeting work plan milestones and tracking to higher-level goals

    • Manage work plans for projects like our Oklahoma legal clinic and expansion into Washington and Kansas

    • Keep team members on track with weekly and monthly goals

  • As you are interested, take up and lead a project of your own - for example, related to studying the impact of fines and fees on a particular community or exploring a tech-enabled solution.

Experience and qualifications

  • 2+ years of full-time work experience

  • Knowledge of the civil and criminal legal system and passion for social and economic justice work; lived experience with the court system a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills

  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills

  • Rigorous attention to detail and deadlines, and high standards for executing projects

  • Enthusiasm for working on a team and collaborating with others, especially with people who come from different backgrounds and perspectives

  • Self-starter who can learn quickly and is comfortable jumping into a leadership position in situations with organizational ambiguity

Logistics

  • Position is fully remote, with opportunity to join in-person meetings if based in New Haven, CT

  • This is a part-time commitment expected to run from March through August 2024; anticipated weekly commitment is 2-4 hours

  • Compensation will be a $3,000 flat award
